검도 Kom Do (Samurai Sword)
Kom Do is the practice of Samurai Sword. Movements are very quick, precise, powerful, and in all different directions. During practice, one keeps strong eye contact with the opponent while at the same time watching the opponent's body. Offensive and defensive movements are straight and to either side with more circles than angles. Ultimately, the mind, body, and sword must come together as one.
Practice develops excellent concentration and mental focus and concentration, which in turn results in stronger cognitive performance and study habits. One will also gain tremendous internal and external strength overall, and a substantial increase in shoulder, arm, and hand strength. This strength leads to improved confidence, harmony, and inner peace.
Repetition is spent on the basic movements of blocks and attacks to develop the physical strength in the wrist, arms, and shoulders, in order to gain the speed, timing and accuracy necessary for a clean sharp cut.
Kom Do movements are straight and direct, moving from one point to the other. This practice develops acute mental alertness with strong physical power.
